Formation

Godan shift to the え-row (書く -> 書け, 飲む -> 飲め); ichidan drop る + ろ (食べる -> 食べろ); する -> しろ, 来る -> 来い.

Explanation

The imperative is direct and forceful, so it is largely limited to commands, slogans, quoted orders, and emphatic rough speech. Recognising it matters more than producing it.
