Verb てまでも

Explanation

This grammar point is used when the speaker wants to emphasize the lengths they would go to in order to achieve something. It attaches to the verb's て-form to mean 'even if it means doing X', 'even at the cost of X', or 'no matter what it takes'.

• 試験しけんに合格ごうかくするために、寝ねる時間じかんを削けずってまでも勉強べんきょうします。

  I will study to pass the exam, even if it means cutting down on sleep.

  Shiken ni gōkaku suru tame ni, neru jikan o kezutte mademo benkyō shimasu.

• 彼女かのじょと結婚けっこんできるなら、どんな苦労くろうをしてまでもお金かねを貯ためたい。

  If I can marry her, I'll save money no matter what hardships it takes.

  Kanojo to kekkon dekiru nara, donna kurō o shite mademo okane o tametai.

• この会社かいしゃで働はたらきたいので、長時間ちょうじかんかけてまでも通かよいます。

  Because I want to work at this company, I'll commute even if it means spending hours traveling.

  Kono kaisha de hatarakitai node, chōjikan kakete mademo kayoimasu.

• 彼かの快復のためなら、何なにをしてまでも支ささえたい。

  For his recovery, I'll support him no matter what it takes.

  Kare no kaifuku no tame nara, nani o shite mademo sasaetai.
