〜koto ni natte iru

Describes something that is decided, arranged, or expected.

Formation

Explanation

The ～ことになっている grammar point is used to express that something has been decided or arranged, or is expected as a rule or custom. It can be translated as 'it is decided that...', 'it is arranged that...', or 'it is expected to...' in English. The formation is used with verbs in their dictionary form.

Example sentences

  • In this company, it is decided that work will end at 8 pm.
