When to use

べくもない: there is no way to (知るべくもない).

Explanation

This grammar point is used when you want to express that something is impossible or there is no way to do something. The verb before 'べくもない' should be in its dictionary form.

• その問題もんだいはとても難むずかしく、解とくべくもない。

  That problem is so difficult that it's impossible to solve.

  Sono mondai wa totemo muzukashiku, toku beku mo nai.

• 彼女かのじょはあまりに速く走はしって、追おいつくべくもない。

  She runs so fast that there's no way to catch up.

  Kanojo wa amari ni hayaku hashitte, oitsuku beku mo nai.

• 試験しけんの筆記用具ひっきようぐを忘わすれた。書かくべくもない。

  I forgot my writing utensils for the test. It's impossible to write.

  Shiken no hikki yougu o wasureta. Kaku beku mo nai.

• 彼かれはとても高たかく跳ぶ。追おい越こすべくもない。

  He jumps so high that there's no way to surpass him.

  Kare wa totemo takaku tobu. Oikosu beku mo nai.
