Casual, mid-sentence; the everyday spoken default among the "but" family.

Explanation

The ～けど grammar point is used to connect two clauses, often to show a contrast or to introduce a different point of view. It can be translated as 'but', 'however', or 'although' in English. It's more casual than けれど or が.

Example sentences

  • I attended the class, but I still have to do my homework.

    Jugyou ni deta kedo, mada shukudai wo shinai to ikenai.

  • Yesterday was cold, but today is warm.

    Kinou samukatta kedo, kyou wa atatakai desu.

  • He is kind, but a little scary.

    Kare wa shinsetsu da kedo, chotto kowai.

  • This looks delicious, but it is too expensive.

    Kore wa oishisou da kedo, takasugiru.
